Monet on the Normandy Coast

Two club nights, two different vibes—for the major highlight exhibition at the Städel

Light, waves, beats—come and celebrate Monet’s coast with us in Frankfurt!

For the first time, to coincide with the major exhibition “Monet on the Normandy Coast. The Discovery of Étretat”, two STÄDEL NIGHTS with two very different vibes invite you to enjoy special evenings at the museum. On Thursday, 30 April, DJs Helina, Venti and Chelo will bring a funky, soulful set to the stage, while on Saturday, 2 May, Sami Hugo, Vanille and Lolsnake will draw you to the dance floor with pulsating techno beats.

At the STÄDEL NIGHTS for “Monet on the Normandy Coast”, immerse yourself in the fascination of Étretat—a place that has captivated artists for over 150 years: dramatic cliffs, shimmering light, and endless sea. Let yourself be enchanted by the iconic works of Monet, Courbet, and Matisse depicting this coastal town, and discover the exciting history of Étretat. Until late into the night, young art experts will take you on a fascinating journey through the exhibition and show you why this place continues to fascinate to this day.

Thursday, 30 April 2026

Berlin-based DJ Helina kicks off the evening with an energetic set drawing on influences from jungle, baile funk, dub and Jersey club. She will be followed by Frankfurt-based DJ and producer Venti, who will keep the energy high with his genre-spanning, rhythm-driven club sounds. The highlight of the night is the internationally acclaimed DJ Chelo, known for his unique fusion of hip hop, R&B, soul, and electronic music.

Saturday, 2 May 2026

DJ Sami Hugo will kick off the party with a dynamic house set, before the French-Ivorian artist Vanille takes to the stage to blend driving techno, old-school trance and powerful percussion, paying homage to the roots of techno. Lolsnake, known as a regular at Berghain, delivers the grand finale of STÄDEL NIGHTS with sounds that unfold across techno, trance, acid and cosmic soundscapes.

Naiv will be serving refreshing drinks at the museum bars on both evenings, while Taste Frankfurt offers delicious snacks in the Städel garden.

About the Exhibition

The coastal town of Étretat has become a myth—and continues to fascinate to this day. Its cliffs, located in Normandy on the Atlantic coast, captivated numerous artists in the 19th century. Claude Monet was so fascinated by their unique shapes and the three natural rock arches that he painted them several times. The Städel Museum presents a major exhibition dedicated to the artistic discovery of the former fishing village of Étretat and its influence on modern painting.
