Accessibility
at the Städel Museum

Here you will find all information on accessibility at the Städel Museum.

Admission

Visitors with a degree of disability of 50% or more are entitled to a reduced admission fee. If a “B” has been entered in the disability pass, admission is free for one accompanying person. In this case, please request tickets for guided tours via the contact form.

Entrance and Lift

There is a lift at the main entrance of the Städel Museum (Schaumainkai 63) for visitors with limited mobility and visitors with prams or pushchairs.

All floors of the Städel Museum are accessible via a lift, which has wide doors and low controls for wheelchair users. One toilet on the first floor (1. OG) and one in the basement of the exhibition building (UG) is barrier-free. There are sufficient seating possibilities on all floors and in the exhibition rooms. A wheelchair or wheeled walker can be borrowed from the cloakroom.

For safety reasons, we reserve the right to regulate access to the exhibition galleries with prams/pushchairs if necessary (e.g., in cases of high visitor volume). The museum offers space for parking prams/pushchairs.

Städel Rooftop

Access to the Städel Rooftop is not suitable for people with restricted mobility. There is no barrier-free access. For reasons of monument protection, it was not possible to build a lift to the Städel Rooftop.

Parking

Public disabled parking spaces can be found on Holbeinstraße at the corner of Schaumainkai.

Barrier-free Guided Tours

Experience art without bounds. Whether for visitors with impaired vision or deaf persons—we will guide you with detailed spoken descriptions of the works or sign language interpreters, thus paving your way to art. Guided tours for visitors with impaired vision or deaf persons (with sign language interpreter) can also be booked individually.
