Before Your Visit

Tickets are available in our online shop and at the ticket counter.

Persons holding a press ID, voucher, or other special entitlement can reserve a time slot for their visit in the online shop and will receive their ticket at the ticket counter upon presentation of their proof of entitlement. Please have your reservation, proof of entitlement, and a valid photo ID ready to show upon request.

Negative proof

You can visit the Städel Museum without proof of vaccination, recovery, or a negative corona test.

Mouth- and Nose Protection

The obligation to wear a mask during your visit has been suspended. As a precautionary measure, you may, of course, wear a mouth-nose protection, e.g. a medical mask (FFP2 or surgical mask), during your visit.

Online tickets

Tickets are available in our online shop and at the ticket counter. The tickets are valid for a one-time entry for the date and time stated on the ticket. The online ticket can be printed out or scanned in as a mobile ticket from the display of a Smartphone. We regret that it is not possible to exchange or return an online ticket.

  • The timed ticket entitles you to a one-time entry to the museum for the date and time stated on the ticket. It is valid for the Städel collection and all special exhibitions. Every ticket will be accepted only once at the admissions control point.
  • Please be sure to stick to the time slot you have chosen for your visit.
  • Children (dependents) under 18 in the company of at least one adult holding a valid online ticket will be granted admission free of charge.
  • No subsequent returns or refunds.
  • Persons holding a press ID, MuseumsuferCard/-Ticket, voucher, or other special entitlement can reserve a time slot for their visit in the online shop and will receive their ticket at the ticket counter upon presentation of their proof of entitlement. Please have your reservation, proof of entitlement, and a valid photo ID ready to show upon request.
MuseumsuferCard/-Ticket

The MuseumsuferCard and MuseumsuferTicket entitle their holders to free admission to all participating Frankfurt museums. Priority admission is not covered by the offer and unfortunately also not possible during special exhibitions. Please consult the museum cooperation pool guidelines for the MuseumsuferCard and the MuseumsuferTicket (in German).

Currently, the MuseumsuferCard is valid for the permanent collection and all ongoing special exhibitions.

Please note the changed validity of the MuseumsuferCard as of 1 January 2022:

  • As of 1 January 2022, the MuseumsuferCard is valid for visits to the permanent collection, as well as to temporary special exhibitions from the museum’s own holdings. In 2022, this includes the special exhibitions “Andreas Mühe. Stories of Conflict” (2/16–9/11/2022), “Into the New. Being Human: From Pollock to Bourgeois” (4/6–7/17/2022), “SELF. DETERMINED. The Painter Ottilie W. Roederstein” (7/20–10/16/2022), and “BEFORE DÜRER. The Engraving Becomes Art” (9/28/2022–1/8/2023).

  • Major special exhibitions with international loans such as “GUIDO RENI ‘The Divine’” (11/23/2022–3/5/2023) are excluded from this offer.

  • You can already obtain a MuseumsuferCard Reservation with a time slot for your visit to the Städel Museum from 1 January 2022 onwards in the online shop or at the ticket counter in the museum.

  • The annual “Night of the Museums” is not affected by this regulation.

The MuseumsuferTicket is still valid for all special exhibitions at the Städel Museum.

Städelverein/Städelclub

For members of the Städelverein and the Städelclub, admission to the collections and all exhibitions is free of charge at all times. Prior registration is not necessary.
