With more than 3,100 paintings, 660 sculptures, over 5,000 photographs and over 100,000 drawings and prints, the Städel collection provides a rich survey of 700 years of European art – spanning the Middle Ages, the Renaissance and the Baroque, Classical Modernism and art of the present.
The Städel Museum has more than 24,000 works of art in the public-domain (i.e. artworks no longer under copyright protection) and has now made them available for download free of charge via the Digital Collection. These images are in the public-domain and may be downloaded, edited, remixed, shared, reproduced in any format, and used for any purpose. We kindly ask to be mentioned as ‘Städel Museum, Frankfurt am Main’. Entirely in keeping with the wishes of the museum’s founder, the aim of this service is to make the Städel collection available to the public and further the public enjoyment of common cultural assets.
