As a patron, you join a community that champions art and culture—and in the process you experience our museum work at close range. Support exciting exhibitions and construction projects, help have your favourite painting restored, contribute to the important work of teaching about art and culture, help fund research projects, make art purchases possible or donate an artwork.
Sharing our enthusiasm for art and cultural history and sparking it in others: that’s what we’re about at the Städel Museum—with passion and a wide range of different approaches. Our museum-education work is known worldwide as a standard-setter for its innovative ideas. Both on site at the Städel and online, we offer a whole spectrum of formats, in part interactive, for building knowledge, encouraging creativity and kindling curiosity. Our aim is to shed light on background facts and interconnections and invite questions and discourse.
Targeting all age groups, our offers are as appealing to people already familiar with art as to newcomers in the art world. Our museum-education programme also provides socially marginalized groups opportunities for learning and participation.
With your support, you help us offer in-depth knowledge about our collection and special exhibitions to a broader public!
The Städel Museum cooperates with experts at famous museums worldwide and is recognized internationally for its research in the areas of art history and art conservation alike. The conservation and restoration projects carried out in our workshops ensure the preservation of artworks—among them more than 100,000 drawings, prints and photographs as well as 3,500 paintings and sculptures—for the coming generations and their presentation in exhibitions with global reach.
Even if this important work takes place “behind the scenes”, it is of decisive importance for making 700 years of art accessible and experienceable for our visitors. Help us gain new insights with state-of-the-art technology and methods; help us unlock further enthralling secrets from works in our collection as well as valuable loans.
Support fascinating conservation and research projects such as the work on the Raphael drawings or the analysis of the “wrong foot” in Tischbein’s Goethe at the Städel Museum.
Discover the secrets of prominent artworks and contribute to the preservation of our cultural heritage.

To follow in the footsteps of our founder, you don't have to own a large art collection. Even with a bequest, in which individual assets are transferred to the museum, one can make an important contribution to the promotion of those topics that are particularly close to one's heart.
With a membership in one of our two most important support groups, the Städelkomitee and the Städelfreunde 1815, you can experience art and culture at close quarters with like-minded people. Together with the Städelscher Museums-Verein, we enable unique experiences with museum makers on site and around the world.

Our patrons attach special value to the familiar social interaction and—in good part for that reason—regard the Städel Museum as their own personal place of encounter and creativity.
Support us with a donation designated for a specific area especially close to your heart, or with a general donation to help out where it’s needed most. Your contribution is an indispensable and valuable gift for the future of your Städel.
